TO THE RESCUE
A collaboration between St. Vladimir Russian Orthodox Church, Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, and the SE Michigan Orthodox community to help those who have stumbled get back on their feet
and to provide support in emergencies.
FEEDING OUR NEIGHBORS
To The Rescue organized a special catered hot meal in honor of Pascha (Orthodox Easter) to be served at Orthodox Detroit Outreach (ODO). The food was donated by Ginger Deli and Washtenaw Food Hub prepared by Chef Te Phan of the Ginger Deli with the help of Brenden Hayden. We served over 100 hot meals in less than an hour - only the second time hot lunches have been served at ODO since the pandemic began.
FURNISHING A NEW HOUSE
This family had to move on short notice when their landlord didn't fix a flood of backed up sewage in their bathroom for days. They were able to rent a house, but needed appliances and a lot of furniture. We were able to provide a refrigerator, stove, washer/dryer, kitchen and living room tables, bed and bedding, lamps, a rug, and more! They are thrilled with this opportunity to have a fresh start.

TACKLING CAR PROBLEMS
A mom of five needs her car to get to work. When her car started having problem after problem and eating up a good deal of her income, we were able to buy her a newer car which was in great condition.
HELPING MAKE A NEW START POSSIBLE
This mother and her daughters had to move from a bad situation into a new apartment. We were able to fully furnish that apartment, along with cleaning supplies, and we filled the refrigerator with food.
REBUILDING AFTER A HOUSE FIRE
A family of 12 had a house fire which destroyed much of the second floor, including all four bedrooms. To The Rescue paid for the family to stay in a hotel for a week and replaced all the dressers, beds, and bedding.
FURNISHING A NEW APARTMENT
This gentleman lost his job as a dishwasher when the restaurant he worked at closed because of the pandemic. Soon he ended up homeless. Members of the Orthodox community found him an apartment and a job, and To The Rescue furnished the apartment. Months later, he is doing great!
FIXING WINDOWS
This family had multiple broken windows on the first floor of their house. This made it hard to heat the house and was a security issue. We fixed them!
